To clarify, there are at least three stasis class abilities that can completely nullify an ult-ing sentinel titan. A striker titan’s shoulder charge can push the sentinel back as well, but only a matter of a few inches/feet - nowhere near the comically absurd distance of the shiver strike. The most egregious discovery though, is that a behemoth’s Shiver Strike can send the sentinel flying over a dozen meters backwards, flying outside of their bubble super. You will likely then be slain within seconds of placing your bubble, having done nothing to affect the outcome of the game with your super ability. This means that, in most cases, if you get frozen in the bubble, it will be in plain sight. Remember, it benefits sentinel titans the most to place their supers in tactically important areas. Since it takes several seconds to break from being frozen - you will almost always die as a result. In either case, you are stopped in your tracks, rendered defenseless by two separate class abilities, while in your defensive super. You can also be frozen multiple times in the same bubble by a single dusk field grenade thrown within the bubble. This means that, even if someone throws a glacial grenade about five meters from the edge of the bubble, you can still be frozen by it. You can be frozen in your bubble by a glacial grenade, which completely ignores the bubble’s periphery. I implore you to go see for yourselves after reading this post. Just to make sure it is emphasized, these conclusions/results are replicable. My friends and I hopped into a private match to see how bad the state of the bubble truly was, and we were shocked by our findings. However, the new stasis supers and abilities have rendered the bubble almost entirely ineffective for any use case. Primarily because, these caveats do nothing to diminish my ability to be effective with my super, provided that I’m using it correctly in the right circumstances. These have always been fair to me as a bubble main.
3: Other supers can swiftly destroy the bubble and its occupants (Nova bomb, gunslinger, siegebreaker solar titan, etc.).
That said, it is important to remember that bubbles have always been kept in balance by a few factors.ġ: You cannot fire out of your bubble.
In the right situation, you can come away from your bubble with as many as six kills. This is all to say that you would usually place a bubble in higher traffic regions of maps, in order to maximize its potential. This variant of the defender class is simply not competitive anymore.Ĭonsider this: the bubble has always been a tool used to either defensively lockdown a portion of the map (for capturing zones or securing heavy ammo), or as an offensive bit of bait, beckoning your opponents to fight you in an environment that heavily favors you. This may come off as a rage post after a particularly bad game, but please hear me out. Nothing makes you feel more worthless than deploying your bubble super on an overtime zone, getting frozen by a single glacial grenade or dusk field grenade, and then being promptly deleted by two shots from Sturm. The Ward of Dawn bubble simply cannot stand up to a single one of the new supers, it even fails to hold up to things as simple as grenades or melees in some cases. I have been with this class from the start and, believe me when I tell you, it has never been in a worse place than it is at this moment, directly following the release of Beyond Light. However, the bubble also has its uses in PVP, namely in the control playlist - with occasional use in other game variants. Its most mainstream use to this point has been to provide a safe haven for shield recovery, as well as offer weapons of light to wield against bosses in PVE content.
